Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) and Client Reviews/Testimonials
Q. What may I expect to feel during a treatment?
A. I apply a firm pressure to the reflex points with my fingers and thumbs, which may feel uncomfortable or tender to you; or even nice! However everyone experiences the treatment differently. I can also feel textures in the reflexes. Both your remarks and what I feel are called "imbalances" in those reflexes. Reflexologists understand these "imbalances" to be blocked energy in the body's organs, and treating the affected reflexes is said to clear the energy flow between the reflex and the particular organ in the body. The overall treatment experience is usually very calming . Reflexologists believe that this is not only because the Client is in a relaxed position, but specifically due to the effects of reflexology on the nervous system which controls everything!
Q. How may I expect to feel after a treatment?
A. This can be different for every Client of course, some feel sleepy, calm and/or energised. The effects of the reflexology should not harm you, in fact Reflexologists are of the opinion that reflexology activates the body's own ability to re-balance homeostasis. Homeostasis is a fancy way of describing the ideal state that the different systems in our body should be in.
After the session I will explain that in the first couple of days following a treatment, you might experience "healing responses", which we believe are ways in which your body is clearing those blockages of energy. Examples of "healing responses" include needing lots of wees, crying or laughing. It's like your body's way of eliminating something. Not everyone is affected by these though and the effects after each treatment can be different. The point is that whilst each person will experience reflexology differently, the treatments are intended to improve health and well-being, and Reflexologists believe that the effects of having regular treatments are cumulative. In other words each treatment builds on the last.
Q. How many treatments will I need?
A. This will very much depend on why you are coming for reflexology . For example for someone with fibromyalgia, I would recommend at least one treatment each week, for five weeks, followed by a treatment at least every six weeks, although this can vary from person to person. In general, Clients seem to benefit when they have more than one treatment, as the effects are believed to be cumulative.
Q. Why come to your clinic in Weston-super-Mare?
A. The Clinic provides you with a place away from possible interruptions at home, such as someone arriving at the door unexpectedly or someone else being at home. In other words a neutral place. It is a "space" where we may be talking about your personal information and therefore it is important that this remains confidential. If however you are unable to get to my clinic because of mobility needs then I would consider a home visit.
Q. What do I need to wear for foot reflexology?
A. The treatment focuses on the feet and lower leg, so loose clothing is better.
Q. What do I need to bring?
A. I would need information about current medications and any supplements you are taking.
Q. What form of payment do you accept?
A. Cash, cheque or bank transfer please. Payment is required at the end of each appointment.
